Our History is based on longevity, stability & over 70 years of experience in the industry.
On Aug 8th 1941, Lascelles DeMercado accepted an appointment to serve as Airport Handling Agents and General Sales Agents for KLM’s first scheduled flight into Jamaica.
In 1964, reacting to changes in IATA regulations, ‘All Jamaica Aviation Services’ was formed specifically to handle airlines at both of Jamaica’s international airports, Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. A few years later that name was changed to AJAS Limited.
During the following years AJAS grew into the largest ground handling company in Jamaica, handling all of the major airlines operating in and out of the island, including Pan Am, Eastern, BOAC, and American Airlines as well as countless charter operators.
On June 26, 2013 AJAS Limited was acquired by Caricom Airlines Services (Holding) Ltd, a company formed to hone the ground handling skills of AJAS and restore the company’s position as the dominant ground handling and cargo handling company in Jamaica.
In November 2013 AJAS Ltd became the first locally owned ground handling company to be ISAGO certified, and in addition the only ground handling company to be certified in Jamaica.
